Oksana Grishina was born on March 25, 1978 in Kaliningrad into a military family; the family moved many times. Oksana spent her childhood in the Latvian capital, in the city of Riga. The mother decided to send her daughter to a rhythmic gymnastics school in order to channel the girl’s violent energy in the right direction. Although at the age of seven it was already too late to start classes, the teacher noticed potential in the girl and began to study with her. After 3 months, little Oksana already took 3rd place in her first competition, ahead of older girls with more experience.
After some time, her father was transferred to a new position in Russia with the provision of an apartment, and this already meant a sedentary lifestyle, which the family had been waiting for for many years. But, unfortunately, there was no gymnastics school in that city. The teacher invited Oksana to stay in Riga and continue studying. The parents thought that their daughter would want to go with them, but her passion for gymnastics turned out to be stronger, the girl wanted to stay in Riga. Then her parents had to look for a compromise. Oksana's father switched directions with a fellow officer, and the family moved to Kaliningrad, where there were some of the best Russian gymnastics schools. This was a big sacrifice for the family, since they actually had to give up the opportunity to get an apartment.
In Kaliningrad, the Grishin family often changed their place of residence, and Oksana had to change many schools. The girl combined her studies at school with gymnastics classes; she had very little free time. Already at the age of 14, Oksana Grishina became a master of sports of Russia in rhythmic gymnastics. Gymnastics became an integral part of her life. Oksana Grishina graduated from Kaliningrad University and received a specialist diploma in physical culture and sports in 2000. During her student years, she organized her own ballet "Antares", which existed for several years after graduation. During these years, Oksana also worked as a choreographer at the Tchaikovsky School of Music and Art in Kaliningrad.
At that time, there were practically no equipped gyms in Kaliningrad. When the first fitness club opened in 2002, a friend offered Oksana a job there as a fitness and aerobics instructor. Her colleagues, bodybuilding trainers, noticed the girl’s good body structure and advised her to try this sport. Grishina heeded their advice and began bodybuilding and soon began performing. However, she chose to compete in the “Fitness” category, since here, in addition to the proportions and beauty of the body, choreographic skills that she “inherited” from rhythmic gymnastics are also assessed.
Oksana Grishina's debut on the fitness scene took place in 2002 at the Kaliningrad Region Cup. In 2004, she became a Master of Sports of Russia in bodybuilding, and later an International Master of Sports in bodybuilding. In 2005 and 2006 Oksana was awarded the title of “Best Non-Olympic Athlete of the Year” in the Kaliningrad Region after winning fitness tournaments on the world stage, at the European and World Championships.
In 2007, Oksana Grishina received a professional IFBB card and immediately began conquering Olympia. In 2007 she became seventh, in 2010 and 2011. – fifth, in 2012 and 2013. - second, and finally, in 2014, Oksana became the first Russian winner of the fiftieth anniversary Olympia in the Fitness category.
Now Oksana Grishina and her husband Boris Ivanov, who is also her personal trainer, live in California, USA. Oksana works as a personal trainer and consultant, and participates in photo shoots as a fitness model. In her free time, she learns to play the piano, where she makes some progress. Oksana Grishina is a perfectionist; she cannot imagine her life without competition. Oksana strives to be a source of inspiration for future competitors and leave an indelible mark in the world of professional fitness. Her motto is: “Let your dreams come true.”

Despite the fact that today was Defender of the Fatherland Day, I came up with the idea to talk about a strong woman, and not just any woman, but one that every bodybuilder in Russia and the world knows.
Approaching any person on the street and asking the question “What is the name of the most famous bodybuilder in the world?”, everyone, without exception, will answer “Arnold Schwarzenegger!” Well, if you reformulate the question a little: “What is the name of the most famous female bodybuilder in the world?”, no one will answer this question. Almost the same as the question “Which iron sports athlete do you know?” But if you ask a person who is interested in bodybuilding and competitions, he will answer “Oksana Grishina.”
A Russian athlete, who is currently an analogue of Phil Heath (a favorite in world bodybuilding), only in the fitness category. Oksana Grishina, who became a champion of fitness and bodybuilding, has been involved in sports since early childhood. To date, this woman has managed to achieve incredible success in such a seemingly non-female sport. But her life is not focused only on bodybuilding. Between training and performances, Oksana remains a simple woman and a good wife. The life, successes and training of the athlete will be discussed in today’s article.
Childhood of a bodybuilder
Oksana Grishina was born in 1978. Her father is a military man, so the family often moved from city to city. At each new place, the girl had to adapt again, look for friends, find activities and entertainment. Oksana’s mother decided that it wouldn’t hurt her daughter to do gymnastics, and brought her to classes when she was seven years old.
Oksana Grishina says that she practically did not rest and did not see her parents, as she was constantly studying either at school or in the rhythmic gymnastics section. The little athlete got to each point on foot, and it took her a lot of time to get there.
Education
Oksana liked playing sports so much that after receiving her school certificate, she did not have to choose an institute; everything was predetermined. In 2000, the girl successfully completed her studies at the University of Culture and Sports. During her student years, Oksana Grishina worked part-time as a children's choreographer and at the same time was able to organize her own ballet group called "Antares".
How did the girl get into bodybuilding?
Since the beginning of the second millennium, fitness clubs began to open one after another in Kaliningrad, where the girl lived. Oksana Grishina began working as a coach in one of them. Bodybuilding was also gaining popularity, and the trainers teaching there noticed a predisposition for this sport in Oksana. They suggested that she try to work in this direction, and the girl happily agreed.
Not many people know that bodybuilding is divided into several categories: fitness, bikini, figure and physics. Oksana Grishina began working on the first one. The girl chose the fitness category because it is considered the most spectacular. In addition to femininity, correct proportions, beautiful muscles, women must have acrobatic and choreographic skills. The latter were ideally owned by Grishina.
First successes
The athlete’s debut in bodybuilding took place in 2002. She decided to test her strength and take part in the Kaliningrad Cup. Already in 2004, the girl became a master of sports in bodybuilding in Russia, and a little later, an international master. The years 2005 and 2006 were marked for Oksana by the fact that it was then that she was able to achieve the title of “Best Non-Olympic Athlete of the Year.” This inspired the girl to conquer Olympia.
Oksana Grishina: Olympia is achievable
The athlete received her IFBB professional card in 2007 and realized that she could achieve great heights. As she admitted in one of her interviews, giving up is not her style; you should always move forward diligently even after a series of failures. In the same 2007, Oksana took part in the prestigious Olympia competition for the first time and took an honorable seventh place. Grishina came to test her strength at this competition again in 2010 and was awarded fifth place. She received it while participating in 2011.
In 2012 and 2013, Oksana Grishina was already on the second step of the podium. There was only one step left to victory. And she was able to rise to the very top the very next year, becoming the first Russian participant to win the fitness category at the fiftieth Olympia. She was able to take first place again in 2015, proving her advantage. In 2014 and 2015, Oksana became a champion in the equally prestigious Arnold Classic competition.
Oksana Grishina: training
The athlete's body remains in shape even during the off-season. The girl does not allow herself to relax and rest. She says that it is easier to stay in shape than to work incredibly hard later in order to get closer to your norm. The athlete's height is 1.63 meters and her weight is 54 kilograms, and she rarely goes beyond the limits. The photo of Oksana Grishina provided in this article confirms this. How does a bodybuilding champion train? Oksana does not spare time for training; she devotes most of her life to it, practicing at least six times a week, four of them are strength training. Grishina starts her morning with cardio, and most often this is jogging along the ocean coast. Towards the evening, after the third meal, the girl lifts weights.
Grishin breaks down strength exercises by day. On the first day he works on the biceps and chest, on the second day on the biceps and shoulders, and on the third day he devotes himself to the legs. In the evening, be sure to include cardio training. Most often this is exercise on an exercise bike or walking on a treadmill. In the future, Oksana plans to do strength training to prepare for the free program and stretching. On easy days, when there are no strength training sessions, Oksana Grishina works on developing her image and new acrobatic elements of her performance. She works with music on plasticity and choreography.
Personal life
Oksana's husband, Boris Ivanov, and his wife permanently reside in the USA, California. The girl admits that at first it was not easy for her to find a job, but now everything is just great. She is a successful model, trainer and fitness consultant. Grishina Oksana is also interested in music, surfing and acting. She says that without these hobbies it would be difficult for her to create her unforgettable and vivid images, without which it is simply impossible to win.
The girl is sure that in order to achieve her goals, she must constantly work on herself, and on lazy days, force herself to work. After all, only with developed discipline will it be possible to achieve incredible heights.
A girl brought up in strict traditions, but retaining a rebellious spirit - this is how Oksana Grishina, the famous fitness champion, can be described in a few words. Oksana is used to achieving her goals and not giving in to difficulties. Accuracy and a desire for perfectionism in all areas of life have created a solid foundation for a successful career in sports and harmonious self-realization.
Start of a sports career
Oksana is from Kaliningrad. As a child, she often moved with her family, because her father was a promising military man. One day he was transferred to serve in Riga, Latvia. It was there that Oksana’s mother decided to send her to gymnastics classes to realize the uncontrollable energy that was already raging in the girl. Seven years is a rather late age to start training, but the coach was able to see the potential in the girl and accepted her into a rhythmic gymnastics class. After a few months of training, Oksana experienced the first success in her sports career: she took third place at the championship, beating much more experienced female athletes.
Three years later, Grishina's father was offered a new position in Russia that guaranteed government housing, which meant the end of moving for the family. Unfortunately, there were no gymnastics schools in that city. As a result, the father resigned from his position for the sake of his daughter’s sports future, and the family moved to Kaliningrad, where the girl continued her studies.
This is where Oksana Grishina’s path to professionalization began. In 2000, she graduated from a local university as a specialist in physical education and sports. While still studying at the university and a few years later, Oksana organized her own ballet "Antares", named after the brightest star in the constellation Scorpio. Grishina also began her career teaching choreography at the Tchaikovsky Children's Art School in Kaliningrad.
At that time, there were no serious gyms or fitness centers in her hometown. They appeared a few years later, in 2002. It was then that Oksana’s friend offered her a job as a fitness and aerobics trainer. Several trainers from the gym where the girl worked convinced her to start a professional fitness career, saying that she had a good body constitution for bodybuilding. Oksana Grishina took their advice and began fruitful training. This is how the girl came to competitive fitness.
Victory
- In 2004, Oksana won her first title of Master of Sports of Russia in bodybuilding.
- In 2005 he made his debut on the European stage,
- In 2006 – at the world championship: Oksana became world champion.
A separate aspect of her career is participation in competitions Arnold Classic. She took on these competitions with perseverance and perseverance. Before winning the prize, she participated in them four times, and finally, in 2012, she took third place. In the same year, but already in a different season, she was able to take first place in the Arnold Classic Europe. After this stunning victory, Oksana did not fall below second place in all competitions where she took part, and in 2014 she became the champion of the Olympia, Arnold Classic Europe and Arnold Classic, confirming her undeniable superiority in the 2015 competitions.
Workout
Such rapid success in her career is not surprising, because Oksana spends most of her time training, the acceptable minimum is six times a week. Four out of six classes are strength training. Every morning workout starts with cardio. The girl loves to jog along the ocean. Strength training is clearly distributed throughout the days. The first day is for the chest and biceps muscles. For triceps and shoulders - second day. The third day is completely devoted to leg training. The evening of each day also ends with cardio. Oksana also regularly practices acrobatic elements in the gym.
Grishina found herself, found her own style of performance, and her every appearance on stage is the result of the perseverance, talent, and charisma of this wonderful athlete. After watching Oksana’s performance, all skeptics, critics and other “haters” of women’s fitness should be silent forever. See for yourself:
Now Grishina lives in the USA, in the state of California. She continues her work as a personal trainer, fitness consultant (as well as) and a model and designer of her own clothing line. In her free time, she tries to master the piano and is also interested in acting.
According to Oksana Grishina on her personal website, after 12 years of a gymnastics career and 6 years of bodybuilding, she does not exclude the possibility of becoming a professional athlete.
