Fabio Capello biography
Fabio Capello was born on June 18, 1946 in Pieris, Friuli Venezia Giulia. Fabio's father was a school teacher who was fond of football as a child, and his uncle Mario Tortul was a famous football player in Italy who played in one match for the national team. They greatly influenced the fact that Fabio Capello’s entire childhood was connected with football.
Fabio Capello began his football career at the Pieris club, where his father worked as a coach. There he was seen by SPAL club coach Paolo Mazza and signed his first professional contract with Fabio Capello for 2 million lire. Already in his second season with this team, Capello won the Italian youth championship. In the spring of 1964, Fabio Capello made his debut in the club's first team in a match with Samprodia, but SPAL lost a series of games and entered Group B. In 1965-66, the club returned to the first division and Capello became the team's main penalty taker.
Until the age of 23, Fabio Capello was invited to the Italian youth team.

As part of the national team, Capello scored a historic goal on November 14, 1973, which brought his team the first victory in the history of the Azzurra Squadra over the English at Wembley.
A few years later, in 1976, Fabio Capello moved to the Milan club, with which he once again won the Italian Cup and the Italian Championship. Fabio Capello ended his football career in 1980 after a corruption scandal, as a result of which Milan was sent to Group B. Fabio Capello began his coaching career in 1987 at Milan. Capello secured a place in the UEFA Cup by defeating Sampdoria in the decisive match. After this, Capello moved into the administration of the club, and after some time became the head coach of "". During this time, the club won 4 Italian championships and the Champions League, and also played in the finals of this tournament twice. With Fabio Capello, Milan set a Serie A record for the number of matches without defeat - 58 meetings.
In 1996, Fabio Capello took charge of Real Madrid, but he began to clash with the club's president, Sans. The club bought two new players, won the Spanish championship, but Fabio Capello and his club began to be criticized for dry, unspectacular football. As a result, Capello returns to Milan, but the club has a poor season, finishing only 10th in the Coppa Italia final.
In 1999, Fabio Capello took charge of Roma, signing a contract with an annual payment of 8 billion lire per year, working at the club until 2004, after which he moved to “”, with whom he won two Italian championships. On July 4, 2006, Fabio Capello was fired as Juve coach, but the next day, July 5, he signed a contract with Real Madrid until 2009.
On December 14, 2007, Fabio Capello led the England team, which did not make it to the 2008 European Championship. In May 2010, Fabio Capello said that after finishing his work with England, he would end his coaching career; on February 8, 2012, Capello left the post of coach of the national team due to disagreement with decision of the English Football Association.
Rumors that Fabio Capello would take over appeared after Euro 2012. Capello was included in the list of 13 possible coaches of the Russian national team. On July 16, 2012, a representative of the Russian Football Union announced that the contract with the Italian specialist had been officially signed, and Fabio Capello was ready to start working for the Russian national team . Fabio Capello turned out to be the highest paid coach. According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, he receives 6.7 million pounds sterling a year - no one else has such a high salary.
Personal life of Fabio Capello
Fabio Capello is married to his high school sweetheart, Laura, whom he met at a bus stop as a teenager. They have a son, Pier Filippo, who has a legal education and helps his father as a lawyer when signing contracts. He is not his father’s agent, since Fabio Capello represents himself, as he stated in an interview.
Fabio Capello loves painting very much, has a collection of paintings, his favorite artist is Wassily Kandinsky, and is also interested in opera.
An Italian by nationality, Fabio Capello, as a football coach, gave preference to the clubs of his homeland, and everyone he worked with brought him to the top step of the podium in the national championship. Having once led the England national team, he became its most successful coach in terms of percentage of victories.
In Russia, Fabio has an ambiguous attitude. Throughout Capello’s tenure at the helm of the national team, talk about the coach’s unreasonably high salary overshadowed the glimmers of moral satisfaction from the players’ performances.
However, those who encountered Capello noted his innate aristocracy, combined with rigidity and mandatory adherence to established rules. The biography of Fabio Capello represents a long and interesting journey from an ordinary player to an effective coach of club and national teams.
Childhood and youth
Fabio Capello was born on June 18, 1946 in Italy, in the city of Pieris, in the family of Guerrino and Evelina Capello. My son’s sports career was predetermined from an early age. Fabio's father played in the 3rd division of the Italian football championship in his youth.
Later, in the 50s, Guerrino became the coach of the team of the same name in the city of Pieris. Fabio's uncle, Mario Tortul, was also a footballer and even once played for the Italian national team.
Footballer's career
Fabio Capello began his career as a football player at the Pieris club, where his father and uncle became his mentors. There, the young promising footballer was noticed by SPAL club coach Paolo Mazza, who was impressed by Fabio’s results and invited him to join his team. After playing only a couple of seasons in the youth team, in March 1964 Capello became a player in the first team of the SPAL club. Here Fabio went from an ordinary football player to a solid first-team player and the best penalty taker.
In 1967, Fabio preferred Roma to Juventus, Inter and Milan, who wanted to get the player, and after 2 years he won his first significant prize - the Italian Cup.
After some time, the athlete moved to Juventus, with which he won 3 Italian championships in the first half of the 1970s. After a series of successful matches, Fabio Capello becomes a permanent member of the Italian national football team.
As part of the Italian national team, Fabio experienced the peak of his career: in 1973, during a game with the England national team, he scored the only goal, which allowed the Italians to defeat the English for the first time in an away match. In 1976, Fabio moved to Milan, where he won another Italian Cup. In 1980, Capello ended his football career.
Coaching career
A few years later, Fabio Capello takes over as coach of the Milan club. While working at Milan as a substitute coach, Fabio ensured that the club's first team was able to compete for the UEFA Cup. Then the mentor retired from coaching for several years and took up the administrative affairs of the team.
However, already in 1991, Capello again headed Milan. Despite the fact that many representatives of the Italian football community had doubts about his candidacy as a coach due to his limited coaching experience, Fabio's achievements during his time at Milan were impressive.
Fabio Capello as Milan head coach
Under his leadership, the Devils won 4 Italian championships, the Champions League, and also won 3 Italian Super Cups and a European Super Cup.
In 1996, Capello took over the leadership of the notorious Real Madrid. Under his leadership, the club was again able to win the Spanish champion title. However, having failed to reach a consensus with the management of Real on a number of issues, a year later the Italian returned to Milan again.

Afterwards, Fabio worked for some time as a TV commentator on the RIA channel.
In 1999, Fabio Capello was appointed head coach of the Roma club, which under his leadership already won the Italian Championship in 2001 and won the national Super Cup. In 2004, Capello left Roma and became coach of Juventus.
Fabio Capello as Roma head coach
Despite the excellent reputation of the Italian specialist, the biography of Fabio Capello also has a number of provocative moments. For example, in 2006, he became involved in a loud scandal that erupted due to the fact that Juventus was accused of fixing matches.
Juventus head coach Fabio Capello
In 2007, Capello signed a lucrative contract for a period of 4.5 years and led the England national team. According to the contract, Fabio Capello's salary was € 5.5 million per year. Under his leadership, the English team, which had not previously qualified for the 2008 European Championship, was able to participate in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
In February 2012, Fabio had to resign as coach of the English national team due to the fact that the English Football Association stripped John Terry of the captaincy due to racist remarks.
After Euro 2012, the position of the main coach of the Russian national team became vacant, and the sports community named Fabio Capello among the possible candidates. The Russian Football Union included Fabio in the list of 13 possible coaches of the Russian national team. After agreeing on all the terms of the contract with the RFU, on July 26, 2012, Capello assumed the position of chief coach of the Russian national team.
According to some reports, Fabio Capello's contract provided for a payment of € 5 million per year. However, the Italian's achievements as coach of the Russian team fully justify his price. The Russian national team successfully played its matches in 2013 and received the long-awaited opportunity to go to the 2014 World Cup. According to the results of the draw, Russia played in Group H, where its opponents were Belgium, Algeria and South Korea.
Several times Capello was offered to leave the Russian team and head the Italian Roma and other famous clubs, but Fabio said in an interview that working with the Russian team would be the last in his sports career. In January 2014, Fabio Capello's contract was extended until the end of the 2018 World Cup. At the same time, data appeared that Fabio Capello’s salary increased to € 9 million for a year of working with Russian football players.
Naturally, after the successful performance of the national team in the 2014 World Cup qualifying round, the Russians were expected to achieve success and win in the championship finals. The coach of the Russian national team said that he expected to reach the quarter finals, but this did not happen. The team did not win a single victory and did not advance from the group.
During the group stage of the 2016 European Championship, Capello’s team did not, to put it mildly, show the kind of football that was so expected from them. In qualifying for the championship, Russia suffers failure after failure. After the defeat, Fabio was sent into retirement. As a result of the failure of the contract, the Italian specialist received a penalty of € 15 million.
Capello has said more than once that his least favorite score is 2:0 in favor of the team he leads. Such numbers on the scoreboard greatly discourage the players. It seems that the main work is done and there is no need to strain further. However, one goal from the opponent and the advantage is lost, and we have to re-engage in the fight. And at this time, the players may be tired, and the end of playing time may still be far away.
Personal life
Fabio's personal life, unlike his football life, was much smoother and calmer. The coach has known his wife Laura Gisi since school. The family has two children - sons Pierre-Filippo and Eduardo. The first became his father’s faithful assistant - being a lawyer, he gives advice on how to profitably conclude the next deal. The second is the main consultant for managing family finances.
In 2008, the family idyll was violated by the claims of the Italian prosecutor's office, which accused Capello of non-payment of taxes on amounts received under sponsorship contracts. The wife and children of the famous coach were also among the suspects then. Later, the charges were dropped, and the investigation was presented as an ordinary audit of the purity of income and expenses of wealthy Italian citizens.
Fabio Capello collects paintings. The approximate cost of the masterpieces in the football coach’s collection is € 30 million. When the coach said goodbye to the Russian national team, he received an artistic canvas from the hands of the coach as a souvenir. By the way, the Italian prefers contemporary artists. By Capello’s own admission, he does not have any works.
Fabio's other hobbies include scuba diving, hunting and golf, thanks to which the former football player maintains a stable weight of 75 kg (Capello's height is 178 cm).
And also travel. The Capello family traveled halfway around the world, visiting South America and Cambodia, China and Israel, Greece and Egypt. In addition to collecting art objects, the coach simply studies the history of the country he is visiting.
Fabio does not personally maintain accounts on social networks, however, during the period of leadership of the Russian national team, a Twitter page appeared, supposedly the posts were written by an assistant. Now there are many accounts on Facebook and Instagram opened by fans of the Italian specialist on his behalf, and the coach’s photos are mostly published by players of the clubs with whom he worked.
Fabio Capello now
After leaving Russia, Fabio Capello enjoyed life without football for 2 years. In the summer of 2017, the Italian went to China, where he replaced his Korean predecessor at the helm of the Jiangsu Suning team. An eastern country, not with such deep football traditions as Capello’s previous places of work, offered him a contract for 1.5 years with a payment of € 15 million.
Fabio Capello - coach of Jiangsu Suning
The owner of the club, the Suning Corporation, which also owns Inter Milan, hoped, with the help of such an experienced coach, to pull Jiangsu out of penultimate place in the standings. Fabio brought with him former Juventus and AC Milan defender Gianluca Zambrotta and former Lazio and AC Milan player Christian Brocchi.
However, in 10 months, the Italian coaching staff failed to create a miracle in the Celestial Empire. Relations with the owners became tense. According to local press reports, Capello, despite the team's low results in the Chinese League Championship, demanded a change in the transfer policy. At the same time, the squad has already been strengthened by the Brazilian Ramirez, whose purchase cost Suning €25 million, and Alex Teixeira, who cost twice as much.
In April 2018, the famous coach ended his career. Fabio Capello refused to lead the Italian national team. According to the mentor, his interest is now directed towards television and commentary activities.

Biography
Fabio Capello was born on June 18, 1946 in San Cancian d'Isonzo (an ancient town of 5,000 people in the province of Gorizia, Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, Italy; east on the top of the “boot”, near Trieste).
From early childhood, little Fabio began to play football - his uncle (mother's brother) Mario Tortul was a famous Italian football player - in the youth team of the town of Pieris, which was coached by his father, Guerrino. Even then, Capello had a technique that none of his peers possessed. The promising boy was scouted by SPAL team coach Paolo Mazza, and at the age of 16 Capello went to Ferrara, where he signed his first contract worth two million lire. At first, he was not trusted with a place in the lineup - and this is quite logical. However, three years later the team found itself in Serie B, lost its stars, and the coach was forced to turn his attention to youth. And Capello was among those who helped the team return to Serie A, and two years later helped fight for survival. He, along with teammate Edoardo Regei, was also called up to the Italian U23 national team.
So, already at the age of 19, he became the leader and main penalty taker of the team, where everyone understood that his transition to a stronger team was a matter of time. And so it happened - in 1966, Roma acquired it for 250 million lire. At that time, the Roman team was not just on the rise - since the Wolves had young and promising players on their roster, they were ready to “rush to the top.” The team was led by Magician Eulenio Herrera - he created an almost ideal team capable of fighting with the strongest clubs in Italy. It was at Roma that Capello won his first trophy, the National Cup, and Fabio later said that it was in Rome that he “grew up and became a star.”
In 1970, he, along with Landini and Spinosi, was sold to Juventus, which caused a flurry of indignation among the tiffosi. Together with the Turin team, Fabio won three Scudetto, became a player of the national team and one of the strongest central midfielders of that time. In 1976, Capello moved to Milan, where, having finally won the Italian Cup and another Scudetto, he retired. After the Milan team was promoted to Serie B in 1980.
While still a Rossoneri player, he began to learn coaching from the great coach, Nils Liedholm. Having worked for 4 years in the youth sector of Milan, Fabio simultaneously completed coaching courses in Coversiano, and in 1986 became the head coach of the Rossoneri. But the team took fifth place, and he lost the coaching position to Arrigo Sacchi, who won everything with Milan. He himself began working as a manager, coordinating all sports projects of Berlusconi’s Mediulanum Sport group, including rugby, hockey and volleyball. At this time, he learned to be a manager, analyzed management in other sports for its application in football. Then he replaced Sacchi at the helm of the team - and was able to win with the team from 1991 to 1996: 4 Scudetto (1992, 1993, 1994, 1996), three Italian Super Cups (1992, 1993, 1994), European Super Cup (1994), three times led Milan to the Champions League final, and in 1994 won the main trophy.
In 1996, Fabio was recognized as the best coach in the world by the AIFP (International Association of Professional Footballers). At the end of the 1995/1996 season, Capello was offered to extend his contract, but he refused and moved to Spain, where he became the coach of Real Madrid, where he was invited by the president of the royal club Lorenzo Sanz (the coach took Cristiano Panucci with him). In his first year he won the national championship, and at the end of the season he refused to renew his contract and returned to Milan. But - 11th place, and, leaving the Rossoneri, Capello initially decided to become a television commentator on Rai. But then an invitation arrived from Roma president Franco Sensi, and Capello in Rome created the most beautiful team in the world, tough in defense and creative in attack.
In the first season, the Wolves finished sixth, and the next year they won the long-awaited championship. Then a failed transfer campaign followed and the Romans slid downwards - losing the final match of the Italian Cup and eighth place in the championship. Capello did not break, and the next season he managed to “put together” the strongest team in his career. However, Roma failed to win anything, Capello “broke down” and left for Juventus in 2004. Just as when he was a player, Don Fabio won two Scudetto with the Turin team, which were later taken away because of Calciopoli. Under him, Zlatan Ibrahimovic started playing in the team, and Alessandro Del Piero, due to a conflict with his mentor, lost his place in the team for some time. On June 4, 2006, Capello was fired, and on June 5 he signed a three-year contract with Real Madrid. “Cream” took the championship gold, but at the end of the season, club president Ramon Calderon fired the coach. And the coach returned to commentating again, working for Rai. By the way, under Don Fabio, the Galacticos terminated the contract with David Beckham and Antonio Cassano.
On December 14, 2007, Capello, after the disastrous elimination of the England team from the qualifying tournament for Euro 2008, accepted the FFA offer to lead the team. The agreement was concluded for 4 years with an annual payment of 5.5 million euros. Already in the first match, his players won against the Swiss, and in the qualifying tournament for the 2010 World Cup, from the first metsa in the group they reached the final stage of the competition.
In May 2010, Don Fabio said that after the end of his contract with the national team he intended to retire: “The post of head coach of the England national team will be my last. I really like what I’m doing now, I really like the lifestyle accepted in London. As soon as my contract with the English Football Federation ends, I will leave big football."
However, he then agreed to amendments to the contract, after which he would coach the English until Euro 2012.
Capello is married to his high school sweetheart Laura, and the couple has a son, Pierfillipo, who works as his father's agent. A big fan of painting, the value of the acquired paintings is estimated at approximately 27.5 million dollars. Favorite artist - Wassily Kandinsky. Loves classical music.
WINNER WITH A CAPITAL L
“This will be the final stage of my career. It would be great to finish it in the best possible way,” said Fabio Capello, signing a contract with the English Football Association in 2007. Now the Italian is literally a few hours away from signing a contract with the Russian national team. And this is perhaps the only case when Capello’s words differed from deeds. Over the 26 years of his coaching career, he accustomed his players and the public to the presence of a whole set of principles from which he was not accustomed to deviate.
Note to Arshavin and Co.
The Russian national team players should prepare for the fact that Don Fabio will keep them under a tight rein. At his first training session as the head coach of Milan in 1991, he explained to his players that there are no favorites for a coach, as a result of which, by the way, the star Dutch trio Gullit - van Basten - Rijkaard also got it. At the same time, the Italian perfectly understood that the success of the team depended on these players, so at the initial stage he announced Gullit’s “complete freedom of action” on the field, which resulted in the Rossoneri’s unconditional victory in Serie A. At that time, in the Italian championship, at the same time, Only three foreign players could be on the field, so Capello, without a twinge of conscience, left many of his stars on the bench, including Ballon d'Or winner Jean-Pierre Papin.
But almost everyone noted that for Mr. “everyone is equal.” In the presence of Zenit and army coalitions, this fact can have a beneficial effect on the atmosphere in the team. Moreover, the Italian, despite all his rigidity in the training process, always met his wards halfway in everyday life. The history of the time when the coach first came to Real Madrid is indicative. Predrag's two-year-old son Mijatovic was unexpectedly hospitalized, and the footballer had to spend the whole night in the hospital next to him. The next morning, my father came to the team’s training session, preparing for the most important match with Barcelona. Fabio knew about what had happened and told his ward to “go back to the hospital, as this is much more important than any football.” The player insisted on continuing training, and the specialist created a free schedule especially for him until his son’s recovery. In the match with the blue garnets, Real won 2:0, and Mijatovic scored one of the goals.
And if in a similar situation many other specialists would have done the same, then one more case should be indicative for Andrei Arshavin and company. After Roma's defeat to Inter 0:2, half of the Roman team went to a disco, where they were caught by the paparazzi. A day later, Capello was invited to a TV show, where they showed these pictures, asking a reasonable question: “Why do the players on your team allow themselves to have fun after a defeat?” To which Mr. unexpectedly stated that he himself suggested that the guys unwind in this way and that it would not affect the championship chances of the “wolves.” As ex-Roma player Sergei Gurenko later said, the Italian, naturally, did not know about any disco, but quickly got his bearings, deciding to take the blow on himself! The players appreciated this act by winning Serie A.
Doesn't change his style
Another positive aspect of choosing the RFU is Capello’s success in several championships at once. This specialist is not a homebody and readily changes clubs if he sees that he can’t give anything more to the team or has lost a common language with the management. Don Fabio won the Italian championship seven times, the Spanish championship twice, and the Champions League. True, two titles in Italy were eventually taken away from him due to a high-profile investigation known as “calciopoli,” but this does not detract from the coach’s merits.
The main thing is to understand what Russian functionaries want from a coach: results or beautiful football? More than once during his career, Capello faced situations where the championship title resulted in dismissal with the wording “unspectacular game”. After four Scudettos and a victory in the Champions League with Milan, the management of the red-and-blacks insisted on including a clause in the contract about the obligatory winning of something. The Italian could not come to terms with this approach and left the team. The Rossoneri regretted this decision almost immediately, since Oscar Tabares, who arrived, turned out to be too much of a democrat, dismissing his players. Don Fabio was invited to Real Madrid, where he immediately wiped his nose with Barcelona, but problems arose again with the club’s board. The specialist had to leave the team, but the foundation that had been built was enough for the Galacticos, with Jupp Heynckess, to become the strongest in the main European Cup tournament the following season. Capello will face the same rake in 2007, when he will be asked to leave the Los Blancos camp after another triumph in the example. He is not used to changing his style.
It was after that situation with Ramon Calderon that Tsirkul, as the 66-year-old coach is called, swore off working with clubs. The only alarming fact is that at the national team level he has not yet come close to the successes he achieved in Italy and Spain. You have to be prepared for the fact that the specialist’s track record only includes work with the England national team and he lacks the experience that Guus Hiddink had, for example. Don Fabio is good over the long haul, when he has the opportunity to see his players every day and structure the process so that the players approach important matches in the same shape. He didn’t have such an opportunity in England, and he won’t have it in Russia either.
Perhaps the English Football Federation would have continued to put up with the football demonstrated by the national team under Capello, especially since nothing much had changed under Roy Hodgson, but the Italian’s stern disposition had an impact again. He did not like the interference of functionaries in the affairs of the team when they confronted him with a fact - John Terry, due to his sexual adventures and racial scandal, should no longer be captain. Don Fabio did not put up with the fact that someone was interfering in his work and encroaching on his authority, as a result of which he resigned as head coach. Despite the Three Lions' inglorious defeat in the 1/8 finals of the World Cup in South Africa, in terms of win percentage, the 66-year-old specialist turned out to be the most successful coach in the history of the English national team, winning 67% of matches.
Capello is a winner with a capital “W.” Since childhood, his parents taught him to achieve his goals without changing himself. While a player with the Squadra Azzurra, he became one of the few whose name was not sullied in history at the 1974 World Cup, when the Italians were accused of inviting the Poles to play a match. You can be sure that work in Russia will be the last for a specialist and he will probably want to slam the door loudly. “A place in the national team must be earned by behavior, play and attitude. I want to talk to the players and make sure that it is an honor for them to play for the national team,” the specialist noted more than once. Who, if not him, can rid the national team of random “passengers” and form a core of those who are truly ready to fight for the honor of their homeland?

Until 2016, he was the head coach of the Russian national team.
Biography
Fabio Capello was born on June 18, 1946 in the city of Pieris (administrative region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy). He grew up and was brought up in an intelligent family, his father Guerrino Capelo worked as a school teacher. From childhood, Fabio fell in love with football. His passion for this sport was explained by the fact that his grandfather Mario Tortul was a professional football player in the fifties and sixties - he played one match for the Italian national team.
Start of a football career
From 1962 to 1964, Fabio Capello played for the youth team of the SPAL club. Previously, he trained at his home club “Pieris” from the city of the same name. In 1964, footballer Fabio Capello turned professional. He signed a contract with the SPAL club, played here for three seasons (until 1967) and managed to score 3 goals in 49 matches.
Ahead of the 1967/68 season, Capello was bought for 260 million lire by Roma. As part of the “yellow-red” he won the first trophy - the 1969 Italian Cup. He scored his debut goal against Juventus Turin on November 5, 1967, which was the only one in the match and brought victory to the “Romans”. In general, he played for the Wolves until 1969, scoring 11 goals in 62 official meetings.
Transfer to Juventus, career in the national team, performances for Milan
In 1970, Fabio was transferred to Juventus, with which he began to regularly win the national championship. The Italian midfielder managed to lift the Scudetto Cup three times - in 1972, 1973 and 1975. In total, Fabio Capello played 165 matches for the Old Lady (1969-1976) and recorded 27 goals in his statistics.
In 1972, he made his debut for the Italian national football team in a match against Belgium. After this game, Capello began to constantly appear in the national team until 1976. In total, the midfielder played 32 matches for the “blue team” and scored 8 goals. After the 1975/76 season, Fabio left Juventus and signed a contract with Milan.
He spent his last three seasons with the Rossoneri, winning two trophies - the 1978/79 Italian Championship and the 1977 Italian Cup.
Capello as coach
In 1987, Capello's coaching career began; the young specialist's first club was the Italian Milan. Having taken over, Fabio managed to instruct the correct tactics of the game against Sampdoria and win. This game was extremely important for the Rossoneri, because if they did not take the coveted three points, then they could forget about the fight for European competition. After this, Fabio gradually began to gain coaching authority among the fans and the club's management. The 1991/1992 season became legendary for Milan, because the club became the Scudetto champion and did not lose a single match. The next season was also etched in the memory of fans and fans of the Devils - the team won all the matches in the group stage of the Champions League, scoring a total of eleven goals and conceding only one. In total, together with Milan, Don Fabio won nine trophies (until 1996).
At the helm of Real Madrid, return to Milan
In May 1996, Capello became head coach of Los Blancos. From the first days of work, Fabio did not have a good relationship with the president of the club, Lorenzo Szas. Despite the fact that the royal club achieved the desired result, the Italian coach was accused of having a pragmatic concept of the game, which was not at all in the spirit of Spanish football connoisseurs. As a result, Fabio Capello's career reached a critical point, and the Italian was fired from his post, despite Real Madrid's triumph in the Spanish championship. After such a “failure,” Capello returned to Milan, but his activities there did not lead to a positive result.
Juventus coach
In 2004, he signed a contract with the “old lady”. In two seasons, the club managed to win two Scudetto, which were later taken away due to the world-famous Calciopoli scandal. Experts note that Capello managed to reveal the talent of the Swedish forward
However, such success was offset by a conflict with the player who lost his permanent place in the team because of Capello.
Return to the Royal Club
In the summer of 2006, “Don Fabio” signed an agreement with Real Madrid the day after he was fired from Juventus. The contract was valid until 2009. The club showed excellent results, the Spanish championship was won. But this time Fabio’s activities were not without conflicts. Everything repeated itself as in 1996. Galacticos president Ramon Calderon accused the Italian of “ugly football.” It’s strange that they pay attention to this, because the team did not know opponents throughout the season. Perhaps the main reason for Capello's dismissal was that the club lost players such as David Beckham and who often did not comply with Fabio Capello's coaching instructions. The Italian's career did not end there, and less than a year later he led the England team.
England team
Fabio Capello took charge of the England national team in December 2007. The Italian specialist was invited for a lot of money after the team did not qualify for the 2008 European Championship. Under the leadership of the Italian specialist, the team managed to reach the final stage of the 2010 World Championship, where they demonstrated successful play in the group stage. In the 1/8 finals the team was defeated by the German national team with a crushing score of 1:4. After this match, rumors began to circulate that Capello would be fired. The Italian left his post in 2012. At the same time, Fabio Capello is considered the most successful coach of the England national team in its entire history. Statistics are serious business!
Work in Russia
On July 26, 2012, Don Fabio was invited to the post of head coach of the Russian national team, replacing the Dutch specialist Dick Advocaat. The first match under his leadership was against Côte d'Ivoire, which ended in a draw. Thanks to Capello’s efforts, the Russian national team managed to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Experts predicted a successful performance for the Russian team, but at the World Cup Don Capello's team showed a poor performance, failing to get out of the group round. In June 2015, Capello was sacked from his post after a minimal defeat by the Austrian national team in the qualifying stage of EURO 2016.
"Jiangsu Suning"
On June 11, 2017, coach Fabio Capello signed a contract with the Chinese club Jiangsu Suning, which plays in the top division (Chinese Super League). The first season was completed in 12th place out of 16 teams. There was no significant progress in the 2017/18 season either.
Prosecution of Fabio Capello
In January 2008, the Italian coach became the target of persecution by tax authorities. It was reported that Capello hid his income and did not pay most of his taxes while overseeing Juventus Turin from 2004 to 2006. As it turned out later, the coach’s case was reviewed and all charges were dropped. Italian media commented on this situation as part of a standard check on wealthy Italians.
Personal life: family, interests
Quite a lot is known from the personal life of Fabio Capello. HE was born in northeast Italy. He was raised in a devout Catholic family in which everyone prayed twice a day. Capello has been involved with football all his life, most of it as a coach.
He met his wife Laura as a teenager, when they accidentally crossed paths at one of the bus stops. The marriage produced a son, Pierre Filippo, who is currently his father’s personal lawyer and is always present when contracts are signed.
Fabio Capello is an ardent admirer of fine art. Don Fabio has a rich collection of paintings, which experts value at $28 million. The Italian coach’s favorite artist is the Russian painter Wassily Vasilyevich Kandinsky. In addition to paintings, Capello loves opera; he can often be found within the walls of such Italian theaters as La Scala, San Carlo, La Fenice and Teatro Comunale.
