People serving in the army divide civilian life into army life. There are a lot of differences in sports standards and requirements for candidates and active military personnel in various branches of the military. Many will be interested in looking at the army requirements for sports training according to various criteria and comparing them with the civilian standards of the GTO. And every man, we think, will be interested to know whether he is sufficiently prepared and seasoned to pass the army physical fitness standards for military personnel in 2019, and you yourself can measure your strength and the right to be a worthy defender of the Fatherland.
Important! Standards may not be accurate
Therefore, it is important to check them with places of service in specialized institutions
Physical fitness standards for army conscripts
In fact, there are no approved requirements for sports standards; first of all, military personnel are selected for the army based on mental and physical health. And in the army you will be taught how to run, do pull-ups and other strength exercises during exercises.

These standards are used when applicants take exams for entry into higher military institutions in Russia, and are also not very different, if not completely similar, in countries such as Ukraine and Belarus.
It is worth noting that in the army during military service all conditions have been created for the development of physical endurance. In the morning every day there are exercises and in the afternoon classes on general physical training according to the army training program. In many of the dormitories of the barracks, there are sports corners with exercise machines and sports equipment: dumbbells, weights, barbells, horizontal bars, where each serviceman of the unit can additionally exercise in his free time.
The main task of physical training is to ensure maximum readiness to perform combat missions in full uniform and weapons, which sometimes weigh quite a bit. For this purpose, training marches are carried out in various conditions over rough terrain. Every soldier must control his body and mind to successfully complete a combat mission.
You need to understand that conscripts into the Russian army will not be required to meet any special standards and will be happy to have any physical form. Therefore, we want to consider the standards primarily for those who serve under contract, as well as for various Russian special services.
Standards for military personnel under contract for 2019
When applying for a contract, the candidate must fulfill any three standards from the categories below: strength, speed and endurance according to the minimum requirements. These standards are usually met in sports uniform and within one day. The choice of 3 standards is made by citizens independently. If at least one of the standards is not met, then the test is not counted. The physical fitness of candidates is checked by specialists from relevant departments. All results of checking standards must be communicated to candidates upon verification.

Complete table of points for physical training of military personnel
Verification of standards for all military personnel is carried out based on age group calculations, which are given below. Everyone’s task is to score a certain total score for the final assessment of the physical readiness test.
It would seem that in our age of advanced technology, when the conduct of combat operations has smoothly moved from direct contact of opponents to the control of remote devices of varying range and destructive power, it is not advisable to train soldiers for hand-to-hand combat. But the realities of military life say otherwise. Even the most reliable equipment can fail or be disabled by the enemy, and in this case the soldier must be able, if not to defend himself, then at least for a long time to move across the most varied terrain to new frontiers. And this almost always requires good physical shape.
It is important to note that the training of military personnel can be divided into several main parts:
- training of conscript soldiers;
- training of contract military personnel;
- physical activity on warrant officers and midshipmen;
- training of university students;
- physical activity for service personnel.
Each of the listed blocks has its own characteristics and is focused on certain gender and age groups. In any case, current and future soldiers, as well as citizens who voluntarily linked their lives with the army, must be able to pass minimum physical fitness standards. Among them are the following exercises:
- for agility and speed;
- strength exercises for arms and legs;
- ability to run quickly for time over short and long distances;
- be hardy;
- can swim;
- a minimum set of hand-to-hand combat techniques;
- coherence of work in teams of different sizes (group exercises).
It should be noted that before passing the standards, military personnel have the opportunity to prepare and improve their individual performance. This is facilitated by daily sports activities, allotted time for self-training, and a variety of sports equipment and devices that are present in almost every military unit. Physical training classes in army units are included in the mandatory general military training of military personnel, and passing the standards is an intermediate stage at each level of such training. And if a soldier, warrant officer or officer does not miss the established schedule of classes, monitors his physical fitness, and plays sports in his spare time, it will not be difficult for them to pass the standards determined by regulatory documents. Moreover, they are divided taking into account age categories, gender characteristics, and the degree of possible physical activity for a particular military unit.
You need to understand that the mandatory minimum for any soldier called to serve the Motherland is long and short distance running, strength exercises (a minimum amount of pull-ups on the horizontal bar and push-ups on the uneven bars), the ability to swim and protect yourself in hand-to-hand combat. All this is also accompanied by the development of endurance, the ability to act coherently as part of a squad, platoon, company, battalion. After all, all military service is built on discipline, the ability of each participant not only to complete the assigned task, but also, if necessary, to support and help a comrade who is in trouble. It is important to note that the performance of passing the standards within the unit is assessed based on the last participant. Therefore, in order to invest in the standard, it is very important to act in a coordinated manner, monitor the condition of each member of a particular unit, and, if necessary, even help him cope with difficulties and overcome obstacles.
Competitions and sports in general contribute to the development of the physical abilities of young people. In turn, applied military sports, among other things, instill psychological stability in military personnel, provide an opportunity to master specialties, and allow them to discover the qualities that are necessary for successful service.
Military applied sports: list
The category of military applied sports includes the following disciplines:
- All-around.
- Forced marches.
- Patrol ski races with target shooting.
- Driving company cars.
- Swimming in uniform.
The above-mentioned competitions in military applied sports are mainly held using military uniforms. Often, employees must participate in weapons and equipment disciplines, which creates additional stress and makes it more difficult to complete assigned tasks.
Main goals
Military-applied and service-applied sports contribute to:
- Instilling in employees a sense of belonging to the state, its historical heritage, and the life of society as a whole. Holding such competitions makes it possible to develop patriotism through familiarization with historical exhibits and achievements of technical and scientific thought.
- Military applied sports are the key to developing readiness to defend the state and provide an opportunity to develop a desire to join the ranks of the Armed Forces.
Race in uniform
Low-level competitions are held on level ground, often with a turn in the opposite direction halfway through the distance. At the championships of military districts, races in uniform are carried out at distances of 1,000 and 3,000 meters along the stadium tracks.
When covering short distances, the number of participants is up to 10 people. In the case of a race of several kilometers - up to 30 people. The starting line-up is based on the results of the draw. The race can be carried out with military personnel lined up in several lines.
Forced march
Military applied sports require 5 and 10 km races. Moreover, the movement of participants occurs over rough terrain. The start and finish place are organized at the same point.
The running is carried out by military personnel in uniform, often with weapons in their hands, a magazine bag, and a gas mask attached. Participants are divided into groups of no more than 30 people. Races are held at intervals of 5 to 10 minutes.
Obstacle course
Military applied sports include all-around competitions, during which participants are asked to overcome obstacles. The equipment of obstacles, the complexity and order of performing individual elements are assigned to military physical training instructors.
At competitions of this type, they resort to organizing paired races. Moreover, participants are required to run only in their own lane. If the rules are violated, one or both participants may be disqualified.
Results are documented separately for each runner according to stopwatch readings. The time of the participants is recorded with an accuracy of tenths of a second.
Ski race
The competition involves cross-country skiing. Based on the level of participants, competitions are held under the following conditions:
- When covering distances of up to 10 km by beginners, the height of the terrain above sea level should not exceed 185 m.
- If employees who have previously completed military-applied sports higher than 3rd in a given discipline take part, the race can be held at a similar distance, but at an altitude of no less than 220 m above sea level.
It is desirable that the ski slope be unfamiliar, but at the same time safe for the participants in the competition.
Maneuvering in official vehicles
Competitions are held using company cars regardless of the time of year. In addition to participants undergoing military service, high-ranking officers, as well as members of their families in personal vehicles, are allowed to participate in the competition.
Figures are placed on the track in a certain sequence. Completing the distance involves maneuvering between obstacles against time. The nature of the route, the number of obstacles and their type are determined by the competition organizers.
Swimming in uniform
The competition venue can be natural reservoirs or artificial pools. The depth in the diving area must be at least 1.2 meters. It is possible to use both horizontal and inclined starting tables with a non-slip surface.
Swims are timed. Participants move in military uniform with an AKM-type weapon or its model, corresponding to the original in terms of dimensions and weight. It is desirable that the dummy automatic rifle be characterized by negative buoyancy.
Finally
As you can see, applied military sports involve a combination of disciplines borrowed from athletics, skiing, motor sports, and swimming. At the same time, such competitions have a service orientation. The main objective of the competition is the physical and moral-volitional preparation of the participants.

Surely everyone who plays sports at least a little and tries to keep themselves in good physical shape is interested in the standards that contract military personnel are required to pass. Next, we bring to your attention the mandatory standards of physical training in the army, airborne forces and special forces.
CONTRACTORS
Contract service can be divided into several categories: by age group and by gender. Yes, yes, women also serve under contract. By age, standards are divided into two categories: up to 30 years and over 30 for men, up to 25 years and over 25 for women. You must sign your first contract between the ages of 18 and 40. Physical training standards consist of three levels: strength training, speed data and your level of endurance. Therefore, it includes such types as push-ups, pull-ups, running and skiing. Let's look at all this in more detail.
Men under 30 years old:
Pull-ups on the bar: 10 times
- push-ups: 45 times
- 60 meter run: 9.8 seconds
- 100 meter run: 15.1 s.
- shuttle run 10x10 meters: 28.5 s.
- 3 km run: 14.4 minutes
- 1 km run: 4.2 min.
- ski race (5km): 28 minutes
Men over 30:
Pull-ups on the bar: 8 times
- push-ups: 40 times
- 60 meter run: 10 seconds
- 100 meter run: 15.8 s.
- shuttle run 10x10 meters: 29.5 s.
- 3 km run: 15.5 minutes
- 1 km run: 4.45 min.
- ski race (5km): 29 minutes
As you can see, the age standards differ, but not that much, so the older generation is quite capable of them with regular training. Now let's move on to the fair sex.
Women under 25 years old:
Bend your body forward: 25 times
- push-ups: 12 times
- 60 meter run: 12.9 seconds
- 100 meter run: 19.5 s.
- shuttle run 10x10 meters: 38 s.
- 1 km run: 5.20 min.
Women over 25 years old:
Bend your body forward: 20 times
- push-ups: 10 times
- 60 meter dash: 13.9 seconds
- 100 meter run: 20.5 s.
- shuttle run 10x10 meters: 39 s.
- 1 km run: 5.45 min.
The airborne troops have always been considered the elite of the Russian army, so their physical training standards are especially interesting. Paratroopers are required to have an extremely high level of endurance. So, let's look and analyze:
Pull-ups on the bar: 13 times
- 100 meter run: 14.1 seconds
- 3 km run: 12.3 minutes
- 5 km cross: 24 minutes
- 5 km cross-country skiing: 28 minutes
- 10 km ski march: 1 hour 15 minutes
- forced march as part of a unit: 56 minutes
- overcoming the obstacle course: 2 minutes 25 seconds
- swimming in uniform with weapons: 100 meters
- special hand-to-hand combat complex: assessed by a point
In addition to this, there are several strength training sessions and a series of obstacle course tests.
SPECIAL SERVICES: SPECIAL PURPOSE UNITS “VYMPEL”, “ALFA”, FSO SPECIAL FORCES
And now, perhaps, the most delicious thing. To meet these requirements, you will have to work hard in the gym.
Pull-ups on the bar: 25 times
- push-ups: 90 times
- bench press: 10 times (weight not less than your own, but not more than 100 kg)
- press lying on your back: 100 times
- shuttle run 10x10 meters: 25 seconds
- 100 meters run: 12.7 seconds
- 3 km cross: 11 minutes
- jumping up with changing legs: 90 times
This entire list is also complemented by demonstrations of punching and kicking techniques and participation in various sparring fights. And a standard exercise, which we even decided to separate from all the others - KSU (complex strength exercise). This includes: 10 push-ups from the floor, 10 presses lying on your back, 10 times crouching - lying down, 10 times jumping up from a crouching position. And this complex must be performed 8 times in a row without a break!
As we can see, everyone’s loads are different. For contract service, the standards are not so severe, and most sports people will meet them without any problems. Then, of course, everything is not so simple - for the level of the Airborne Forces and special services you need to be a real athlete.

Swimming with a gun
Competitions are held in artificial and natural pools. At the place where the starting jump is performed, the depth must be at least 1.2 m. The surface of the starting platform must be horizontal or with a slope of 7 degrees and non-slip. The height of the starting table should be no more than 0.75 cm from the water level.
Underwater shields must be smooth, without cracks, with a height of the above-water part of at least 0.3 m and the underwater part - 1.8 m. The pool path should be no narrower than 2.5 m each. They are separated from each other by ropes (cables) with floats with a diameter of no more than 10 cm. The tracks are numbered from right to left, when viewed from the start. To stop swimmers in case of an incorrect start, a cord is pulled above the water across the pool at a height of 1.5 m, at a distance of 15 m from the start, which is lowered into the water when it is necessary to return those who started back. The rotary shield in an open reservoir must be painted white.
The exercise is performed in military uniform with a weapon (AKM or AKS) or a dummy machine gun. The layout of the machine must correspond to the size and weight of at least 2 kg, and have negative buoyancy.
Dress:
- for military personnel of all categories of the Ground Forces, Air Defense Forces, Strategic Missile Forces, Airborne Forces and Marine Corps, contract sergeants and conscripts of the Air Force - field uniform, belt, machine gun (or model), combat boots (boots), for officers - boots;
- for Air Force officers - flight or technical overalls, belt, boots, machine gun (or mock-up);
- for naval personnel of all categories - standard work uniform, boots, belt, machine gun (or mock-up).
From the starting position on the starting stand or from the water (boots, shoes are removed and tucked into the waist belt in front or behind with the soles outward, the tops are bent towards the toes, the machine gun with a magazine fastened behind the back), at the command of the starter judge, participants must swim the distance in any way.
After swimming the distance, the senior judge at the finish checks each participant in the swim for uniforms, equipment and weapons. For each lost item of clothing or equipment, the completed rank is reduced by one category. In case of loss of a weapon, the participant’s result is not counted.
Lane numbers for participants are determined by drawing lots immediately before the start of the next swim. In some cases, it is allowed to draw lots in advance.
The starter, having checked the readiness of the timekeeper judges, gives the preliminary command “Participants to take their places” or a long whistle. According to this command, the participants take places on the starting table according to the draw. On the command “To start”, participants must immediately prepare for the start, taking a stationary position. Having made sure that the participants are ready to start, the starter gives the command “March”, while lowering the flag raised above his head.
If one or more participants begin to move or jump into the water before the signal (team) to start, then the start is considered incorrect (false start). All participants return and the start is repeated. If there is a repeated false start, any participant who violated the rule will be disqualified.
At the second start, the swim does not return. All participants swim the entire distance; the starter, by his decision with the consent of the chief judge, disqualifies those who, in his opinion, started prematurely. Their results are not counted.
The participant must swim the entire distance on the surface of the water. During the starting jump and turns, immersion under water is allowed. When performing turns and at the finish line, the participant must touch the turning board or the wall of the pool with his hand or any other part of the body.
A participant who finds himself in someone else's lane and interferes with another participant will be disqualified. The injured participant is given a new attempt on the same day, in which case the best time of the two swims is counted.
When passing the distance, participants are prohibited from pulling themselves up, grabbing walkways, handrails of stairs and other objects, or pushing off from them or from the bottom.
It is not allowed to carry out any leading actions (give instructions, accompany the athlete along the side of the pool, etc.) while passing the distance.
For violation of the rules of turns, finishing and passing the distance, participants are removed from the competition.
The end of the distance (finish) is recorded at the moment when the participant touches the rotating board or the wall of the pool with his hand.
The time of the participant who came first in his swim is recorded by three stopwatches and determined with an accuracy of 0.2 s. In the event of a discrepancy in the timekeepers' readings, the data of two stopwatches that recorded the same time are taken, or the readings of the average stopwatch if all three discrepancies are taken. The time of each of the other participants is recorded with a separate stopwatch.
If the stopwatch readings differ from the record of the order in which the participants arrived at the finish line, then personal places are determined according to the arrival. Results that are in doubt are established based on the readings of the stopwatches that determined the result of the participant who came first to the finish line.
The winner and occupied personal places are determined based on the results shown. If two or more participants finish the distance with the same time, they are given the same places for which they are applying, and subsequent places are not shifted. For prize-winning places, a repeat swim is assigned.
